What this site is written from
Six sources, each with what it is used for and the month it was last checked. Nothing on YogaPath rests on anything that is not on this list.
The list, and what each one carries
| Source | What it is used for | Reviewed |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 Adult Compendium of Physical Activities | Every energy figure on the site. Publishes MET values per STYLE of yoga — codes 02170, 02150, 02160 and 02175 — and never per asana, which is why this site never publishes a per-pose calorie number. | JUL 2026 |
| ACSM metabolic relationship | The arithmetic that turns a MET value into kilocalories: MET × 3.5 × body mass in kg ÷ 200 per minute. Quoted here for a stated 70 kg reference adult and linear in body mass. | JUL 2026 |
| Traditional asana nomenclature | Sanskrit names in Devanagari with IAST transliteration, and the Hindi common name where it differs. Names are traditional and belong to nobody; the sentences describing them were written for this site. | JUL 2026 |
| Contraindications as taught in teacher training | The ordinary, well-established cautions: pregnancy for prone poses, closed twists and deep abdominal compression; glaucoma and uncontrolled hypertension for inversions; cervical spine injury for anything loading the neck; wrist and knee injury for the poses that load them. | JUL 2026 |
| Hold times | Conventional teaching ranges per family, with per-pose overrides where the convention does not fit. A starting point, not a target — the correct hold is the one where the breath stays even. | JUL 2026 |
| Stay times and sequence order | Authored for this site, pose by pose, and the input to every session strip. One breath is counted as 5 seconds at an even practice pace. | JUL 2026 |

How these are reviewed
Once a quarter, and after any correction. A review means three things: the Compendium codes still exist and still carry the MET values quoted; the contraindication lists still match what is taught; and every figure printed anywhere on the site can be traced to a line on this page. If a source moves or is superseded, the date here changes and so does the date printed under every figure that uses it.
This site is not medically reviewed, and it does not claim to be — which is why no page here carries medical-review markup. It is a movement reference with its cautions in the loudest position on the page. The method page sets out the rules the build enforces and, more usefully, the list of things this site cannot tell you.
Something wrong or out of date on this list is worth more than a new page. Send it and it is fixed on the next build.
The people behind these sites
Follow the build
This site and nine others like it are built and photographed by two people: Amit Sharma — behind the build; Geeta Patel — the poses, demonstrated. New work goes up on Instagram and Facebook before it reaches a page here.
Following changes nothing here — every page stays open, with no account and no wall.
